Did you know that musculoskeletal issues often lead to visceral problems? The nerve supply of the gut is supplied by the thoracic region of the spine, and cranial nerves (vagus). If the thoracic region of the spine is suffering from spasms of large or small muscles, or from superficial fascial issues causing a change in the curve of the spine, then the nerve supply to the gut will be affected. The sympathetic nerve supply to the gut from the thoracic region, or the parasympathetic nerve supply to the gut from cranial nerves, must both innervate the viscera free from obstruction to maintain proper digestion.
